Our brilliant and hard working Admin (and Master) - Jbluey has done it again!!!

He has designed and implemented his own player for OS which in addition to looking cool, will help our members stream faster and smoother. Most of the pesky waiting will be reduced unless of course you have a terrible connection (for which of course we cant do anything to help:4:)

Pls let us know if you experience any difficulty at all

~All hail OS and Jim~

EDIT: For those who are having problems with the new player, or simply don't like changes, you can use the old player by clicking on the "Old Player button

I got sacred for a bit when the new player popd up. It looks GREAT!

It looks great but I can't properly skip scenes, fast forward to certain time.... It just brings me back the start of the video.....

I kind of miss the old grey bar player already... T_T

EDIT: 1 more thing I noticed, while watching D.Grayman.... It doesn't show the track time for the episodes it stays at 00:00/00:00, plus there is no seek cursor that scrolls to tell which part of the stream are you in....

Sorry If I have lots of complaint but just stating what I see so you could address those matters..

Thanks and more power guys/gals @ OS :D

Another EDIT: Btw the resolution for this is sorta weird when full screened... Unlike the oldplayer......

cant hide progress bar during full screen (disturbing my anime time)
overall for the new player---> really fast streaming experience!!!!!!!!!!
i love it..........

the new player for OS is working fine for me, I can see the progress bar (although you can't hide it but I really dun care about that) with the timer (ex : 0:01/24:31), it will auto replay for me to (haven't tested yet but I hope the player goes to the next episode instead of the user like myself clicking to see next episode lolz) and lastly, I can see the streaming of the video, its fine and I love it, nicely done

Hi - just an additional note - if there is a problem with the quality or timing - it could be the specific episode and not related to the player, so pls if you have the time, just check a couple of random animes and see if the same problem exists, thanks

I like the new player, more classy. Got a little surprised when the player suddenly changed.

Bindu1000
08-04-2009, 10:46 PM
I guess one of the biggest benefits of the new player is that it streams faster for those of us in countries with poor connections. Those in countries where they had great connections to start with, may not not see the benefits XD

But the animation is still kinda slow to me..

@avich

Almost all of the video seems kinda slow in animation its not smooth as the other player especially with fast opening theme time frame..

Is it just me?

Ex: One Piece 390 @ 00:50 - its like you pause it at 00:53 and when you play its on 00:55. Its not entirely smooth in animation.. If you get what I mean..

Dgrayman 95 : Time, seek, aspect ratio and fullscreen works fine.

if you want to use the old player just add "&player=old" on the end of the URL.

example :
hxxp://os.com/streaming/index.php?cat=1&anime=Saki&ep=0&watch=1&player=old

Looks nice, good job on the skin for the new player.

And if people were having trouble with loading times, I sure hadn't seen any of it. I usually had all of it loaded when I was only halfway through the episode. Sometimes earlier.

Honestly, I don't want this place to get too popular or else I'm afraid there won't be as much bandwidth to use.

Although, with as much bandwidth as I have, and how you've been managing this place, I'm sure you'd keep it running at amazing speed like you have it now.

EDIT:

I can confirm that the video time display does not work at all times.

@russ - forward inside the buffer range or jump to a point that has not yet buffered?

ratratrat098

With the new interface you can actually watch some part that has not yet buffered( the blue guage)or beyond the buffer range.

Have added an extra note on the original post on how to access the old player if you wish.

However for those of us (especially me) who could never stream properly due to poor connections, this player is a godsend and if the timing is not visible (although this has not happened to me) or the bar is visible when you go to full page mode, then its a small price to pay for fast streaming.

Works nicely.

P.S. 'Tis Bindu1000 behind jbluey?

Hahaha ... at least one person got it!!! Yep I am the one constantly harassing Jim to do this or that on OS. If you dont see me around suddenly - its coz he finally lost it and banned me completely :18:

mattduy
08-05-2009, 05:51 AM
No offense but I don't like the new player that much. It looks good and all but my streaming has gotten a bit slower but I can still stream which is all that matters.
If it means others can stream faster at the expense of me streaming slower than I'm fine by that.

Eerrmm still getting wrong aspect ratio, and no seek bar timer..... On mozilla FF 3.5.2, ... Not only in D.Grayman but all anime >_< (Earlier post I said it was ok, I was on our comp shop) but here at home aspect ratio is messed up and no working seekbar and timer...

hmm when I first used the new player it took a little time for my comp just to get use to the new player, about 10-12 min :P

well in any case

Well, the new player at least has sliding feature (albeit 10 seconds per slide!).

Perhaps they could make the bottom player disappear after a few seconds once the video is in full screen rather than being there all the time?

Yes you are correct. We can only skip to parts that are already downloaded (buffered) but can't skip to parts that has hasn't yet (ex. skip to the end of the video directly) Our server is not powerful enough to handle this.

We apologize for the inconvenience. We want so much features for OS but there is only much an 11 year old admins can do. :D

I too, miss the old grey bar player..
I do not know if someone aldready said this but, with the new player, sometimes the "otaku-streamers logo" at the bottom right is in the way of the subs.. kinda annoys me x_x

One more thing, I was wondering if it's possible that when you press at the "old player" button, you could replace the black bar player to the old grey bar player.. I think there's more people than just me that miss it.
Sorry for complaining.

You can try this if you are having problems with the new player...

if you want to use the old player just add "&player=old" on the end of the URL.

I saw the comment about skipping ahead, but the feature where you could stop and move backwards a bit and rewatch something you missed is also missing. I often do this as I sometimes can't read fast enough or realize that the translation (subtitle) doesn't agree with what was being said. I like the new player but it would be nice if this old feature could be restored.

I like the new player when it works properly (about half of the time for me). Surely it'll have a few glitches since it's new, but they'll be fixed. Luckily the pause function is working without any glitches.

The only thing I hope to see fixed on this player is that the seek bar keeps disappearing all the time. When you try to skip the opening of the anime its such a pain xD!

Other then that its a nice player, but I'll still use the old one until that feature is fixed.

We are trying our best to resolve this and we are having a hard time pinpointing the source of the problem because we are not able to replicate these bugs. We need some more information by reporting the following:

1) Please make post a screenshot if you encounter any of the ff problems..
-Video Time won't display properly.. (ex. 00:00/00:00)
-Seek bar missing
-Can't skip scenes using the seek bar (2 screenshots)
-Video ratio wrong

2) What browser you are using and its version

3) version of your adobe flash currently installed in your browser. Don't just mention "latest" or "recent", I need to know exactly the version of your adobe flash. To determine its version, please visit this site.. http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/155/tn_15507.html

4) If your screenshot it (1) didn't include the anime title and episode you are currently having troubles, don't forget to mention it too.

Sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for helping us solving the issue. :)

I don't know if this little problem is with the player or the video (Bleach 236 if you want to know). If I drag the video back to the start, the whole video that has been completely streamed, vanishes. This leaves me having to stream the whole thing again.
