Ability to see video index without logging in

I just noticed recently that I am being able to view the list of anime series index and its videos without logging into the site. It only prompts me to log in when I want to watch & clicked on the video.

Is this a good idea? I mean, previously I thought that one needs to log in to see the index list was a good idea so as not to attract "unwanted" attention (say, some upset copyright owners...).

The question is however, should OS shine or be hidden away for the selected few? I think OS should shine, you can always upload videos again on a new site should the unspeakable happen.
I think that it is important that guests are able to see the video index, it is likely that a lot of the guests who visit the site dosn't know excatly what to expect from OS, and the fact that you have to log in might scare a few. They might be afriad of being hoaxed or w/e.

As a supplement to being able to see the video index it would be great if there was a preview folder showcasing the quality of OS to guests. It could probaly increase the ratio of visitors creating an account and joining the cummunity.

As always Jadaliciousdk - you are perfectly correct. We do need to attract more attention and if the average surfer does not know what we have to offer, they may not bother to make an account. OS membership had trickled down to just one or two a day, in the last couple of months, so we felt this feature was needed

Originally - OS was supposed to be very low profile, but since we have grown, we have high maintenance and upkeep cost which if we dont incur, we wont be able to add more vids and other features. Ergo - we need more members and hopefully a small percentage will donate. :4:

@ranma in some points your right ^___^ . For a non member to watch the index is like putting spoilers for them but they need to signup ..its ok for me though

I understand what you mean. My concern was just that I hate to see OS end up like Crunchyroll whereby they were under pressure from various copyright holders and eventually gave in by deleting all fansubbed videos. So I thought by logging in to see the anime index is just to serve as a little security purpose, that's all.
