yeah but i don't usually watch clamp now because they are more on romance... the old animes that i like are something like evangelion... yeah by the way CLAMP said before that they will have a season 3 of tsubasa chronicles after they have transfered in their new studio but why is it the season 3 is not yet showing... (=_=)

CLAMP didn't create Code Geass, they only made the characters' designs. It was Sunrise that create the whole series.

It would be pretty surprising if CLAMP created Code Geass because their type of series tends to be more fantasy based and not about wars, politics and societies like Code Geass.

hahhaa yeah! you took the words out of my mouth >,<
I'm fine with most of the stuff that CLAMP makes... I just kinda thought that Tsubasa Chronicles gave an odd excuse to make any world they wanted LOL

Yes, I agree with you koedt, and here are some information about how they created and produced Code Geass =D.
Code Geass began as a concept developed at Sunrise by Ichirō Ōkouchi and Gorō Taniguchi, who proposed it to producer Yoshitaka Kawaguchi while they were working on Overman King Gainer and later, Planetes. The initial concept of the plot consisted of a secret organization led by a "hero", which was later developed into a conflict between two people with differing values of morality, belonging to the same military unit.

During these early planning stages, Kawaguchi contacted the noted mangaka group Clamp, which was the first time Clamp had been requested to design the characters of an anime series. Clamp signed onto the project early during these development stages, and provided numerous ideas, which helped develop the series' setting and characters.

While developing the character designs for Lelouch Lamperouge, the protagonist of the series, Clamp had initially conceived of his hair color as being white. Ageha Ohkawa, head writer at Clamp, said she had visualized him as being a character to which "everyone" could relate to as being "cool", literally, a "beauty". During these planning stages, Clamp and the Sunrise staff had discussed a number of possible inspirations for the characters, including Kinki Kids and Tackey and Tsubasa. They had wanted to create a "hit show," a series which would appeal to "everyone." Lelouch's alter ego, Zero, was one of the earliest developed characters, with Ōkouchi having wanted a mask to be included as a part of the series, because he felt that a mask was necessary for it to be a Sunrise show. Clamp had wanted to design a unique mask never prior seen in any Sunrise series; said mask was nicknamed "tulip" for its distinctive design.

Clamp's finalized original character design art, illustrated by its lead artist Mokona, was subsequently converted into animation character designs for the series by Sunrise's character designer Takahiro Kimura, who had previously spent "every day" analyzing Clamp's art and style from their artbooks and manga series. While working on the animation character designs, he designed them in such a manner which would enable the series' other animators to apply them without deviating from Clamp's original art style.

Clamp is still one of the very top studios at the moment. If you watch them from the beginning ... it is really cool how the characters have evolved and been reused from series to series. No matter what .... Chi is still my favorite Clamp girl reguardless of where she shows up ... desu~

That's really great, thanks for the info! :D

@fatcharley: Btw, Clamp is not a studio. Clamp is a name of a group of female mangaka founded since 1987.

Extra Information! . . . Clamp was originally a doujinshi circle in the mid 1980s. Back then there are 11 members in the group. They only started creating their own work in 1987 and their debut project was RG Veda (1989). However, the numbers of members of the group decrease over time and now only 4 members remains in Clamp.

I found that info through wikipedia but I think it's reliable. After all, it is no surprise if a group of mangaka first start-off as a doujin circle before they become an official mangaka.

AiChan

Wikipedia is not that too reliable, but you can make it as a reference ^^
"This online encyclopedia is educational and has viewpoints from various sources, but it may also contain inaccurate information. Their unique “edit” button allows any user to edit or add information to the page on any topic."
but still I agree with you koedt =D ~~> Quite a few famous artists had their first works published in doujin anthologies, for instance, the famous CLAMP began as doujinshi artists!

CLAMP is certainly busy with as many titles that they release in the month. I hope they can keep up actually, since their popularity just shot through the roof moreso than most manga artists nowadays. And the business of theirs has been around.. Oh, I'd say a good 10-12 years old now? That's rather impressive.

I'm not sure if we've signed agreeance on their works just yet at my workplace, but if I get the response, I'll let you guys know.

Mm, they're not the only bunch though. ^^ Not with them personally, I do talk to their agent. Random House has signed several agreements with different manga publishers, like CMX, and Clamp has a semi-partnership through DelRay/Bantam books on their story, like Tsubasa Reservoir as a good example.

But not a 'concrete' agreement per se. That's what we're working on with most of the manga artists in the industry.

Now if I was to meet them in person... I would fear a restraining order or a straight jacket would have to be relied on.

isn't it a doujinshi circle creates a one-shot and most of the one-shots are hentai isn't it?

CrossDervish
06-17-2009, 09:34 PM
I believe the Hentai part is true. They started off with something like that didn't they?

Omikaru
06-18-2009, 12:22 AM
I don't think that's entirely true. Not all doujin's are considerably hentai or even in that catergory.

There has been a rumor like that that they have started out as hentai'd, but that actually is not even true. If I recall, they had released their earlier works, most likely the ones that were done when there was 14 and not 4 artists, a good long while back. *Can't remember the exact year and month, so forgive me here.* But as far as I know, their works are not of complete hentai. Perhaps ecchi is more the term you were looking for?

koedt
06-18-2009, 01:14 AM
Very true, doujins are not always hentai, it's just easier to find them like that on the internet.

There is this one doujin franchise that I have found (which is not hentai) called T-Moon Complex. I was so good I believe it's the best doujin that I have ever seen! It's a doujin that uses characters from Fate/Hollow Ataraxia and Melty Blood and the story itself is fan made. If you ever find it you must try it!!

Omikaru
06-18-2009, 02:22 PM
I have that, some scenarios don't actually go into hentai. Plus I love Type Moon's stuff. XD (Not to change the subject of course.

tnx for the info of code geass didnt evn know it ehehe

zevlag21
06-21-2009, 02:37 AM
but don't you think it would be good if they create hentai because almost all of hentai doujins that comes from the anime was not really made by the ones who creates the anime so there is a lot of difference in the drawing... One of my favorites doujin creators are kisaragi gunma, Bosshi, Nekomataya, and yamatogawa(or something)... oops straying from the topic again but anyway hentai is good... i mean CLAMP is good...

From what I understand, Legal Drug did make a small print into XxHolic. So it seems to be an inbetween on that and an earlier work of theirs. Not sure of the exact timeline, but it does have a partake in the 'unexplained'.

As for what it's fully about.. That's where you go and read it! I guarantee you'll laugh your socks off in some parts.
