All to .mp4 then use Factory Format (http://www.formatoz.com). It's free and one of the really good converters ..
NB: if you're planning on uploading videos to os you should follow the "how to upload" threads.

Try the converter that comes along with Real Player. It's worked fine for me when my old converter somehow got corrupted.

you can use Cyko + handbrake CLI since format factory sometimes leave soft subbed videos without subs after converting
